Exodus primarily serves refugees who are resettled through the United States Refugee Admissions Program.
However, we do also serve some humanitarian immigrants who arrive in Indiana in other ways. These include: asylum seekers, secondary migrants (refugees who first resettled in another state and have now moved to Indiana), Haitian entrants, Cuban entrants, and other immigrants who have humanitarian parole.
Do I qualify for Exodus’s services?
You might qualify to receive assistance from Exodus if you are:
- A refugee who arrived in the United States in the last five years
- An asylee who was granted asylum in the last five years
- A victim of human trafficking
- An asylum seeker
- A recipient of humanitarian parole (due to U.S. government regulations, available services may vary by country of origin)
- Individuals who have Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs)
If you fall into one of these categories and are seeking assistance from Exodus, please call our main office at 317-921-0836 to find out if you can be scheduled for an intake. Please note that Exodus can only provide assistance after you have arrived in Indiana. We do not match people with sponsors through the Welcome Corps program.
What can Exodus assist me with?
Some Exodus services, such as housing assistance, are only available for refugees who are resettled through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program as primary clients. We recognize that housing is a need for many immigrants in our community, but unfortunately, we only have the resources to provide housing for refugees who are directly resettled through Exodus.
However, Exodus offers English classes, assistance applying for public benefits when clients are eligible for these services (Food Stamps, Medicaid, Cash Assistance), employment services for clients who are authorized to work, and a health and mental wellness program that assists individuals with getting connected to care. Exodus can also provide legal assistance to some clients, depending on what they are eligible for.
